I was disappointed to hear this week that Manoli Roussos has decided, under doctors orders, to retire from rugby.

He's been playing with some discomfort in his lower back for several seasons now, but his doctor has finally told him that enough is enough.

Manoli formed part of the backbone (excuse the pun) of Bahamas Rugby for over a decade, propping and hooking for both Baillou and Buccaneers. He also played a key role in last year's successful RWC side, proping in all three games against Jamaica, Cayman and Bermuda.

Manoli isn't completely walking away from the sport, however, as he has agreed to become forwards coach for The Dragons next season.
