Report by Huw Davies

Luctonians entertained Peterborough at Mortimer Park and with a comfortable 52 points to 15 victory retained their position at the top of Midlands One. The forwards again laid the foundation for the success as the backs made good use of the possession to run in five tries.

It was a solid all round performance apart from a short lapse in the final quarter when Lucs midfield defence inexplicably evaporated and gifted Peterborough two soft tries. As Lucs stood under the posts awaiting the second conversion skipper Chris Jaques made his feelings known in pithy Anglo-Saxon and his vituperations had the desired effect as Lucs tightened their game for the final thrust and the forwards had the satisfaction of driving the Peterborough pack over the line for Lucs’ final try.

Dan is now a shoe in first choice open side flanker at Lucs. Going great guns, I here.

Go to "Senior Rugby", then click on "Bedford Athletic" - you will see four photos of the game and Dan is in all of them. Luctonians are wearing their unfamiliar green strip in this game.

"Dan played well. A little bit frenetic at times eg went to cream the full back who was fielding a high ball but screamed past him like a demented jitney. Viv Wooley seems to have taken a shine to him which is good news and my hope for Dan is that he improves by 4 or 5% every match. He still covers a lot of ground and puts in a lot of tackles. He is like a pig in $^*t in the club house afterwards clutching his pint of Nigerian lager, always busy chatting away or being chatted to."

- Huw Davies, Bahamas Rugby's on-the-spot reporter

The lad is doing extremely well, Lucs forwards are now coached by Viv Wooley (150+ games for Gloucester as openside flanker) and they are 4-0 at the beginning of the season having thrashed one of the pre-season favourites for the league they play in.

Apparently his hands are still dodgy but he's so hard and fast they just can't leave him out.
