It was an impressive and exciting display of rugby by St Lucia in all aspects of the game regarding scrumaging, line outs, rucks and mauls, etc. The back line was particularly impressive, given the fact that half of the players were playing their first fifteen’s match ever. They were up to the task. Kendal Cadette and Lenford Eugene made
several incursions into opposition territory to great effect and were unfortunate not to score.

Aggression both in defence and attack proved the undoing of the visiting sailors. They may have been surprised at the level of organization of the St Lucia team and the manner in which they played.

The most valuable St Lucian player was flanker Reynolds who played what may be called the game of his life. He repeatedly broke down attacks launched by the sailors from set pieces such as scrums and was devastating in open play. His solo effort gave him a try to cap a truly remarkable performance.

The St Lucia team was as follows: Akim “The Truck” Herbert, Martin, Wedrel “Tommy” St Claire, Danlin Samuel, Cyril Marius, Henson Hunte, Cliffe Reynolds, Tim, Bert Jean, Colvis Samuels, Jerry Charles (Captain,) Kendal Cadette, Lenford Eugene, Shaun Alcindor, Uranus “Mal” Denis, Thomas Fletcher, Roger Butcher, Marcelle Jonas, Valdez Franklin, Denson Abraham and Douglas George.
