Injury report

Al's injury looked quite serious at the time

....then there were 21.
Three players out:
Al-Mahdi Wilson - Concussions in game 1 (not serious, precautionary)
Giovanni Johnson - Bruised bone, ankle in game 2 (not serious, will be fine)
Shawn Kemp - Bruised bone, shoulder in game 2(not serious, still wants to play)

The Guyana game has been brought forward at Steve's request, we're hemorrhaging money and could save quite a bit if we can get a return flight tomorrow. the game will kick off at 4:30 (5:30 EST), though there is some suggestion it may be put back to 5:00pm.

New Model Army - don't worry mum, it'll grow back

Stevie Johnson: "When we came here, we had 21 black guys and 3 white guys. Now we've got 21 black guys and 3 Mohawk Indians"

More to follow.

4:00pm - boys are warming up on the field.

Physio report on Shawn Kemp
He's got a 1st degree AC strain with no torn ligaments.
Full range of motion and equal strength in both arms, means he can play as long as he's well taped up (which he is).

Squad:
1. Devon Gibson - (back from suspension, good news)
2. Renaldo Young - (jaw's working fine again, essential player)
3. Annejo Burrows - (getting better each time he runs out)
4. Travelyan Smith - (looks too somall for lock, but proved himself last game)
5. Charles Martin - (lock to prop to lock, great future in the game)
6. Philemon Rolle - (one of the stars of this tour - animal)
7. Shawn Kemp - Captain - (integral to the team if his shoulder holds out)
8. Joe Thompson - (prefers this position to lock and highly capable)
9. Connor Albury - (from boy to man in 80 minutes)
10. Jake Parish - (excellent in all areas, he's got some fans in Cayman)
11. Wheatley Wilson - (hasn't had teh chance to show his wheels yet, but very committed in defence)
12. Perez Lightbourne - (the guy's a monster, can play in any position and will become a National Team stalwart quite soon)
13. Jon Isaacs - (moved up from fullback which will suit him and he's more comfortable in the line)
14. O'Neil Miller - proved his ability in defence when he came on against Bermuda
15. Dale Allen - (Baptism of fire? We'll see in a few minutes. His tougness isn't in doubt)

Subs
16. Jordan Isaacs
17. Joshua Johnson
18. James Rollins
19. Ajayi Clarke
20. Adrian Johnson
21. George Pratt
22. Anthony Johnson

Anthems:
A slight hiccup when they announced the Bahamas Anthem and played the Guyana one. Anyhow, we're underway now with Guyana kicking off to us.

Bahamas 0 - 5 Guyana

Must have happened right off the kick off - I was in here writing this

Fairly even play for the last few minutes - Guyana aren't as big as Jamaica or Bermuda and to be fair, they look quite young too.

Bahamas 0 -10 Guyana

Push over try - boys, boys, boys - all of them protesting to the ref, only Jake seemed to notice that he was still on his feet. Conversion attempt hit the post.
Please don't let our heads go down so early.....please.

Shawn Kemp (7) is playing a captain's game - pain seems to be helping him.

Bahamas 0 - 15 Guyana

Can't fault that one. Guyana scrum-half exploited a gap between our 9 & 10, fed the fly half who sidestepped Dale Allen (15) to go over. unconverted.

Dale's struggling with this new position, not confident with his boot and their 10 is taking advantage.
Take that back, very prave run from Dale taking the catch in his 22 and breaking 3 or 4 to get to half way.

Injury - Jake Parish

Damn! He's of, the physio's calling for a sub. We really don't need this. Jordan Isaacs is on for him.

My internet connection is acting up - don't know what's happening, but some stuff is slipping off into the ether.

The Connor Albury Show - Our Physio Kyra Lindsay looks on

Bahamas 3 - 15 Guyana

Nice attack results in a penalty - Connor (9) slots it.

Bahamas 3 - 22 Guyana

Obvious high tackle by Perez Lightbourne (12) results in a penalty try, converted.

Spot the Ball - First prize is my bar bill at Cayman Rugby Club
Half Time

I just went to the bar - $5 a beer and its Heineken. I want to go home........

Second half
I'm going back outside.

Remote control rugby at this point - if the coach says it, it gets done. Otherwise, there's a lot of talking and confusion.

Bahamas 3 - 29 Guyana

5 yard scrum for defensive errors - crash ball - try under the post - converted.

Some moments of individual skill but very little team rugby from our boys. Shawn (7) needs to come off - his shoulder is obviously killing him, but who's going on - we don't have anyone left.

Kevin's been put in the stands - 4th official says he's allowed to shout from there.

If I said this is closer than it looks, would you believe me?

Bahamas 10 - 29 Guyana

The front row are holding this side up. Penalty just outside their 22 - an easy kick but we have to play it, obviously. Connor taps and give to Annejo Burrows (3) he crashed 12 yds before feeding Muscle (2) who goes over just to the left of the posts. Connor converts. YAAY - A TRY!!!

The only surviving pictures of the try - the others are a blur as Steve was too excited

Bahamas 10 - 34 Guayana
Didn't see it

The game's settled into a predictable pattern - forwards & kickers. Fairly even for a while there.
Oh why did I say that?

Bahamas 10 - 39 Guyana
Big prop crashed through in the corner. Kyra's earning her beer tonight.

Stevie pictures:

Aw, c'mon ref
C'mon ref 2 (modern art?)

Final whistle: 39-10

Jake's OK - fell hard on the ankle that he hurt last game.

Tough time for the boys - 3 games in 5 days - but nobody's downhearted. Good team talk sfter the game - no serious injuries and a firmresolve that this won't happen again.
As I said before, 22 of the 24 will still be eligible next year.
Now we have to work on hosting it..........

Right, goodnight, thanks for all the emails and words of support. We're going to dinner.
