But if his mother had not met his stepfather, John Armitage, on a Caribbean holiday 18 years ago, his Twickenham dream may never have happened.

Verna Williams was already mother to Bevon, now 26, Delon, now 24, and Steffon, now 22, when she met John in her native Caribbean.

'I was on holiday and at the carnival in San Fernando in Trinidad,' he revealed.
'I met Verna as she was coming out of the loo. We got married three months later.'
