17th January 2008 : TTRFU have Caribbean Games complaint

Trinidad and Tobago Rugby Union(TTRFU) vice-president Leslie Figaro believes that rugby sevens should be on the 2009 Caribbean Games programme.

Figaro said that rugby's popularity is growing and having rugby sevens at the inaugural games to be hosted in T&T "makes sense" as the sport is a medal sport at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and 2011 Pan Am Games.

He expressed disappointment that the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee(TTOC) will host a landmark event such as the Caribbean Games and limit it to five sports.
