A meeting to establish a blueprint for an annual playing calendar that is relevant, commercially robust and acceptable to all those involved in rugby will be held in Woking, England, today and tomorrow.

The chairman of the International Rugby Board, Syd Millar, said the board had worked with the national unions to establish an integrated season for more than two years.

Millar said:

“The board is committed to finding the best possible rugby season structure. This includes analysis of the existing playing calendar and new options for an integrated rugby season.
“The development of an integrated season is not easy when you consider the different requirements of clubs, provinces and the national unions and a game played across two hemispheres."
