During the NAWIRA Sevens in Nassau last weekend the quality of play and the cooperation of the players and coaching personnel involved with all teams were beyond reproach.

This was reflected by the attitudes of players throughout the event. They should all be commended for the excellent conduct displayed.

The very few comments made were done so in a calm and positive manner; the vast majority of which being complimentary. On a number of occasions coaches took the time to demonstrate their approval of the efforts of the match officials, and this was well appreciated by all concerned.

Follow up:

This is not to say that match officials performed perfectly; errors were made. But such errors were attended to by the referee advisors on an on-going basis and were not repeated. The three advisors - Alan Biggs, Dennis Dwyer, and Bob Showan - worked diligently throughout both days and I thank them sincerely for their tireless contributions.

Furthermore, the high degree of team effort on the part of all officials contributed much to the standardized application of the Laws, including consistency of verbal communication with all teams. The above being written, the success of the tournament may be measured by the degree of satisfaction of the players and their coaching staffs -
and I believe the event was a great success.
