Trinidad and Tobago men’s rugby team finished third at the NAWIRA Sevens Crown after a 26-15 victory over Martinique at Nassau, Bahamas over the weekend.
The national rugby sevens team started the second day of competition on the wrong footing as they lost to Guyana 24-14. However, they rebounded to defeat USA South 29-7 to book a place in the semi-finals. But TT went under to Jamaica 10-0 in a one-sided semi-final encounter. Guyana retained their Men’s Sevens Crown title defeating Jamaica 7-5 in the keenly contested final. Canada Dev Team won the NAWIRA Women’s Sevens title with the USA Dev Eagles team finishing as the runner-up. Jamaica, the women’s Caribbean Champions were third.
Trinidad and Tobago won two games and lost one on Saturday’s opening day of the Sevens Rugby Championships at the Winton Rugby Centre, Nassau, Bahamas.
The national team finished second in Group “B” with seven points after defeating hosts Bahamas 17-12 and the Cayman Islands 28-0.
But the TT rugby men were beaten by group winners Jamaica 19-12.
