We are about to host one of the biggest team tournament the Bahamas has ever held.

On November 17th & 18th, up to 16 men's and 8 women's National teams will be in Nassau for the NAWIRA International 7s rugby tournament. This will include the national teams of Jamaica, Guyana, America, Canada, Mexico, St. Vincent, Turks & Caicos, Guadeloupe, Martinique, St. Lucia, Cayman, Bermuda, The Dominican Republic, The British Virgin Islands and Barbados - every rugby playing nation in the region.
We've done well to get to host this event, generally such tournaments go to Cayman, Jamaica, Guyana, Trinidad & Barbados - the traditional powerhouses of Caribbean Rugby.
However, we successfully hosted the RWC Northern Caribbean Tournament (and won it) in 2005 and today, we're considered on of the better hosts in the region.

The Good News
We reckoned it would cost us about $150,000 to host this event and we pushed the boat out to get there. It meant ensuring that we had two fully irrigated fields and an infrastructure to match.
We got there on half the money, thanks mainly to Stevie Johnson and his little army, but also thanks to our corporate partners. Suffice to say, a lot of companies have stepped up to help out, not so much the big interntational companies that you would expect (though Stella Artois and SG Hambros get a big 'thank you'), but local ones:
Majestic Tours
Bahamas Fast Ferries
Premier Importers
Bahamas Waste
Aquapure
Thompson Trading
Pinder Enterprises
Nassau Ready Mix
Bristol Wines & Spirits
JBR
Darville Packaging
Sir Speedy Printing
News Cafe
Torway Construction
Bahamas Hot Mix
Original Patties
And a lot more.....(Enbarrassed), I know I've forgotten a few, but I'll fit them in at some other juncture.
Request
Now then folks, we've done our job, its up to you.
Players
If you're in the running for the National Team, you have our respect - do you best.
If you're not, don't shy away from volunteering. You own Winton and this event will only be as good as you make it.
Supporters
Please come along on Novembe 17th & 18th and show your support. Bring your flags, your cowbells and be prepared to make some noise. But equally importantly, bring some friends, the more the better.
This should be a great weekend and hopefully suppor toff the field will be reflected in our team's performance on the field.
