Rugby is one of the world’s most popular sports. Played in more than 100 countries, international rugby is controlled by the International Rugby Board ( IRB ), which is based in Dublin. With 115 Member Unions, it is responsible for the development and control of rugby worldwide, as well as the staging and management of Rugby World Cup and the IRB’s other major tournaments.


A vacancy exists in the Rugby Services Department in Dublin for a Tournament Manager. Reporting to the Head of Rugby Services, the successful applicant will have responsibility for the management and organization of IRB Tournaments, excluding the Rugby World Cup.


The position also entails working with the IRB executive bodies, coordinating with IRB departments on tournament planning and delivery, and with IRB regional bodies and Member Unions on regional/national rugby tournaments.


He successful applicant will be an experienced and capable event manager, with experience in developing, implementing and delivering rugby tournaments and competitions. A strong event background and a deep understanding of rugby are essential. The successful applicant will be a strong strategist with the ability to plan extensively and then deliver operationally. French and Spanish language proficiency would be an asset. The role is based in Dublin and involves extensive travel.
