The learning curve continued for Luctonians' Bahamian flanker Dan Woodside as a member of the West Indies squad selected for the World Series Sevens in San Diego, California.

Woodside joined Luctonians last August to further his rugby experience and the 23-year-old then took time away when chosen to represent the West Indies for the first time.

They started as underdogs and suffered defeats in all three of their Pool matches, 31-0 to Argentina, 55-7 to Fiji, the eventual winners of the tournament, and 31-5 to Scotland.

The West Indies went on to the semi-finals of the Shield competition before losing 17-0 to US who went on to win the final.
