In one of the most exciting rugby games in recent years, Freeport resurrected their rugby year with a thrilling victory over the mighty Cuckoos of Nassau on Saturday past.

Supported with a fantastic home fan support, Freeport went to the game knowing that only a win could keep their season alive. As soon as the whistle blew the atmosphere on the field was charged with excitement and within four minutes Geo Rolle scored a blazing try and Freeport took an early 7-0 lead.
Soon after Freeport lost Paul Blake to a savaged, raked ear and Ricardence Michele joined the back row.
Then came one of two of the most superb tries that has been seen in a long time by Denny Oasis! Picking up the ball on his own 22 yard line, Denny ran the entire length of the field missing, swerving and gliding past most of the Cuckoos' side.
Freeport increased their lead 14-0, with Speller kicking both conversions thus far.

The score stayed the same for a long period, but eventually the Cuckoos' forwards began taking control with Freeport losing their discipline.
In the second half, with Freeport leading 14-0, the Cuckoos came out firing and were able to pick up a try to get on the scoreboard with seven points (14-7).
But within minutes Freeport got back into the game.
Denny again came up with a pretty 60 yard run to score his second try of the game and increase Freeport's lead 21-7.
Needless to say the home crowd went wild with excitement.
But the Cuckoos would not lay down and play dead. They came up with a second try to remain in contention for the game at 21-14.
But Ricardence scored in the corner and that gave Freeport what should have been breathing room. But that was not to be.
Freeport lost a number of players back-to-back and the tide began to turn. They lost Richard Doresett to the "sin bin," C.J. also had to come out of the game and Jackelo Pierre was sidelined due to injury as well.
With pressure being applied by the Cuckoos, Freeport started to buckle and the Cuckoos got back into the game with a try at 31-26, with five minutes left to play.
After spending a long period of time in striking distance, Freeport finally came up with the try by Marco Blacks that would give them the 38-26 victory.

Freeport Rugby Club's next home game is set for February 3, when they take on the Bucks.
