As you may or may not be aware, homegrown Bahamas rugby stand-out, Devon "Dan" Woodside a.k.a. The Androsian Assassin has been given the opportunity to play a season of club rugby in England for the 2006/7 season.

Dan will be playing for Luctonians Rugby Club (click here for link ) who play in Midlands 1 in the English leagues. This is high level amateur rugby but we are confident that Dan's ability should secure him a starting place in the First team by the end of the season.

The Luctonians will provide Dan with accommodation and a job during his time at the club. This will be an incredible experience for Dan and we look forward to his return to The Bahamas as a much stronger player.

Dan is the first of many young Bahamian rugby players the BRFU hopes to send overseas as we look to build and strengthen our playing base in The Bahamas from the ground up and we are extremely excited he has been given this opportunity. Dan has saved hard and will be taking $1,500 with him to get him going on his arrival. However, he still needs to find the $1,000 for his ticket and I am appealing to the rugby community to step up and assist him with this.

We will start the ball rolling by chipping in $100. Please contact Andy Davies or any of the BRFU Executive with any pledges you may want to make. Please feel
free to encourage/shame other people into making a contribution.

full deposit applied to the ticket. I think it's around $800+.
