It seems that Dan Woodside is currently spending as much time on this side of the Atlantic as he is in England, at the moment.
After representing The Bahamas well in Barbados in mid-November, he was selected for the West Indies team that played in the Trinidad 7s at the beginning of this month.
The Windies won the event, beating 'favorites', Atlantis (a specialist sevens team from the US) 17-14 in what was, by all accounts a very exciting final. Dan played throughout the tournament and represented us well.
According to West Indies coach, Curtis Nero (read about him here):
In general the boys played well. There is good synergy. Devon played almost every game and played in the final (prop).
The emphasis was defence. This worked, as the boys had all teams under pressure. The game against Atlantis was the toughest. We met them earlier in the tournament and narrowly won (10 - 7).
Devon played well and was solid throughout. I believe he enjoyed it.
Dan is currently back in England where he is concentrating on making the Luctonians first XV. He will be staying there for Christmas, but Andy is going across to see him and will happily take any presents you have for him (stuff like conch, crawfish, watermelons, coconuts [still in the husk], rims, scrum machine, etc.).
