24th November 2006 : 'European' Points System

This season the BRFU will be experimenting with point system that is being increasingly utilized in European rugby. The system has proven to be highly effective in encouranging try scoring over kicking and also provides a points incentive for losing teams to keep fighting right up to the final whistle. It works like this:

4 points for a win

2 points for a tie

1 bonus point for scoring 4 tries or more

1 bonus point for losing by 7 points or less

This system will be used in all Bahamas League and Nassau Cup matches, except for those games involving Cuckoos B. As Cuckoos B is a purely developmental side, it is felt that bonus points would be inappropriate.
