RWC Ltd begins Broadband Subscription Services tender process





Rugby World Cup Limited has begun the tender process for a Broadband Subscription Services provider for the IRB Rugby World Cup 2007.


Rugby World Cup Limited is tendering for the provision of broadband subscription services for the Rugby World Cup 2007 (to be known as ‘RWC Plus’) on the official RWC 2007 website, www.rugbyworldcup.com.


This tender includes the opportunity to provide the technical infrastructure related to the provision of these subscription services, as well as the opportunity to develop innovative plans for the marketing and exploitation of the ‘RWC Plus’ service in all relevant territories.

The IRB Rugby World Cup is the third largest sports event in the world. The inaugural tournament took place in 1987 and it is held every four years. In 2003 the tournament was played in Australia and enjoyed a cumulative worldwide broadcast audience of over 3 billion. The sixth tournament in 2007 is to be hosted by the French Rugby Federation. 42 of the matches will take place at 10 venues within France but two matches will also be played in Edinburgh, Scotland and four in Cardiff, Wales.
