Luctonians 17-17 Old Dunstablians

Dan was in the second team again this weekend playing at home against Old Dunstablians second team. He was playing open side flanker as he had done the week before.

By all accounts it was a cracking game of rugby and the end result was a 17-all draw. Dan apparently had a strong game and scored a try from about 15-yards out with a strong run for the line where he carried over two defenders to touch the ball down.

Aparently, the clubhouse was kicking afterwards and Dan was absolutely buzzing after the game. Dan was called up with the other club debutants for a pint downing competition, Dan had a pint of Guinness and according to Huw he absolutely annihilated the competition, sinking his pint in about two seconds flat.

Huw had a chat with one of the Dunstablians players in the clubhouse afterwards who had coincidentally been playing in the back row for the Dunstablian seconds team against Dan.
Huw asked him if he recalled how Dan had played against them, his response was that Dan was an absolutely awesome player and he had hit the crap out of Dunstablians all match, the guy thought they would have won the match if it wasn't for Dan.

Follow up:

All positive news and Dan continues to settle in and is doing well at work. He probably needs a few more games under his belt before he can really start challenging for a first team position but that will come eventually. Carol Davies (Huw's wife) took some guava back to the UK for Dan from her recent trip as he wants to make some duff for the family he is staying with.

The Luctonians first team played against their Old Dunstablian counterparts in a Midlands One league match and in an uninspiring game lost 9 - 5.
