Click image for more on NAWIRA SevensA couple of months ago, we put in a bid to host the North American and West Indies Rugby Association (NAWIRA) Sevens tournament for 2007 - we've just heard that our bid was successful so we'll be hosting the event on November 17th and 18th, 2007.

The tournament will include men's and women's teams from all Caribbean Unions as well as Mexico, Canada and the USA.

The current mandate by NAWIRA is that if the tournament is successfully hosted they will allow the tournament to be hosted again for a second year running, which is why the tournament was in Barbados in 2005 and will be again this year.
So in this regard, we should have the tournament here in 2007 and 2008 which should also double as a RWC 7's Qualifier.

All good news - now the work begins!

Now I'd like to remind the fat boys (forwards) that while this is a major event, it in no way distracts from regular 15s rugby which is, and always has been, the primary area of focus for Bahamas Rugby. So don't panic Mario.

WINTON FIX-UP
Winton is badly in need of a bit of TLC, so I'd like to ask as many people as possible to get up to there on Saturday, September 9th to clean the place up. The grill will be running and the bar will be open (after we finish). Don't ignore this, we need everyone!
